Best GPU Cooler Aftermarket

Servicing the 8800GTS (320MB & 640MB) is advocated a relatively straightforward procedure which may be finished in as few as 10 minutes yet please be aware that if your card gets some remaining guarantee you then risk the guarantee being voided so bear this in mind.

Gear Needed

To Be Able to support your card best aftermarket 1070 ,You’ll Need the following things:

Philips Screwdriver
Citrus-based Solvent
Can Of Compressed Air
GPU Thermal Paste (advocate using Akasa or Arctic Silver for optimal results).
An Old Credit / Debit Card (not necessary but helps to use the thermal compound properly )

1) Eliminate All Screws From 8800GTS

Eliminate the 8800GTS out of your system to start with and put this on a level place with sufficient room to get the job done. The conventional 8800GTS heatsink includes a total of 11 screws which have to be eliminated before it could be separated in the printed circuit board (PCB).

2) Eliminate Heatsink

The huge majority of 8800GTS cards possess too much thermal adhesive applied to them at the mill and therefore once you come to remove the heatsink you will observe that it doesn’t initially wish to come off regardless of the fact you’ve eliminated all the screws. This is very normal and is only a case of this thermal adhesive hardening over the years and forming a mild connection between the heatsink and PCB.

3) Use Compressed Air To Clean Heatsink & PCB

Now the heatsink was removed you need to use your own can of compressed air to completely clean out the fan and metal fins on the heatsink and also the surface of the PCB itself. I’d advise doing so out if possible as there could be a great deal of dust trapped inside the heatsink, especially in the event the card is rather old.

4) Eliminate Old Thermal Compound

With a sheet of kitchen paper to remove the vast majority of thermal chemical from the the PCB and the aluminum plate situated on the heatsink. Then use a citrus-based chemical onto a fabric (or cotton bud), to gently eliminate the final remaining traces of chemical from the surfaces.

5) Apply New Thermal Compound

This phase can be a bit tricky but the purpose is to obtain a thin, even covering of chemical on the aluminum part of this heatsink. I find the best method to do so is to employ a little (pea-sized) level of thermal adhesive to a single corner of the aluminum plate and then use an old credit card to gently smooth it on the entire place.

6) Twist In GPU Fan Connector & Re-Attach Heatsink

Before re-attaching that the heatsink make certain to join the snowy fan cable back to the PCB. Now align with the heatsink using the screw holes found on the PCB and reattach the 2 screws on the bottom of the PCB. Be certain these screws have been tightened and that there’s a great (flush) contact between the heatsink and PCB. Now attach the rest 3 screws.
